TOP IRS REJECTS FROM EARLY TRANSMISSIONS (1/16/2025)
Early IRS rejects are following a similar pattern to prior years...
Top Reject 3rd year repeating is....
F8962-070 is by far the leader out of the gate. Counting for almost 30% of all rejects.
- Missing Form 1095-A Health Insurance MarketPlace Statement
- DON'T take the easy/quick route of filling out the ACA explanation claiming they did not have Marketplace Insurance
- I would warn against this whenever possible, going this route will very likely cause the return to be kicked into errors / review. That means funding could be delayed by several months.
- Have the taxpayer get their 1095-A and resubmit the return with the 8962 attached.

- failing to enter a valid Identity Protection PIN,
- One big reason we see this is that EROs and Taxpayers don’t know, or ...
- fail to remember that the PIN must be renewed Every year.
- Using last year’s PIN will cause this rejection.
